Do What You Really Love(凭谦和与爱，启少年之理想)

March 20, 2017 was a special day. The Nobel laureate, world-renowned scientist and educator Dr.Aaron Ciechanover gave a speech in front of thousands of students at Zhuhai No.1 High School.

2017年3月20日是特别的一天。诺贝尔奖得主，世界知名的教育家，科学家Aaron Ciechannover博士在珠海一中数千名学生面前发表了演讲。

His arrival suddenly woke up the quiet crowd, drawing attention from each and every studentand lighting up the whole stadium.

他的入场瞬间唤醒了原本安静的人群，将每一个学生的注意力牢牢抓住，点亮了整个体育馆。

After a brief introduction from Ziwei Huang, the vice chancellor of the State University of New York in the meantime an alumni from Zhuhai No.1 High school, Dr. Aaron Ciechanover started by presenting his hometown Israel, where a Nobel laureate was born and raised.

在纽约州立大学副校长，珠海一中校友黄子为的简短介绍后，Aaron Ciechanover博士用介绍他的家乡以色列作为开场，那是一个孕育了诺贝尔奖得主的地方。

Dr.Aaron Ciechanover, as a global leader in his field, did not show any stereotype of a scientist. Instead, his amicability and modesty were imprinted in every audience’s mind.

Aaron Ciechanover博士，尽管是在他领域中的一位全球的领导者，却没有表现出任何我们对科学家的刻板印象。反而，他的谦逊和友好深深地印在了每一位听众的脑海里。

He says:”In your journey, your interest is the very first thing that you should consider when you decide what you do, even when your family members are all lawyers and you want to be a biologist.” This simple suggestion won long-lasting applause from students.

他说：“ 在你的旅程中，你的兴趣是在你决定做什么的时候第一个应该考虑的事情，即使你所有的家庭成员都是律师而你想当生物学家。” 这则简单的建议赢得了同学们经久不息的掌声。

He encourages students to return to their own country after graduation.“Though I had invitation from Stanford and MIT, I insisted on returning to my home country Israel. Kids, China needs your contribution. I wish you can come back to your hometown and help develop it like I did.” At that moment, his touching and motivating words illuminatedthe hope and dream in each student and their applauses were seemingly showing their silent promises, powerful and determined.

他鼓励同学们毕业后回到自己的祖国：“虽然我有MIT和斯坦福发来的邀请，但我还是回到了我的祖国以色列。孩子们，中国需要你们的贡献。我希望你们能回来并且帮助它发展，就像我一样。” 在那一刻，他动人又激励的话语点亮了同学们心中的希望和梦想，同学们的掌声似乎展示着他们无声的承诺，强大而又坚定。

In the interview, he points out that research is intriguing but exhausting and boring as well. Love and passion are his motivation when he faces difficulties, and he is willing to pass down his spirit to the next generation. “ If you wonder why the sunlight and the moonlight exist, you should be anastronomer. If you wonder why trees are green and people get sick, you should be a biologist……”

在采访中，他说科研是有趣的，但同时也是枯燥辛苦的。爱和热情时他面对困难时的动力，他愿意将他的精神传递给下一代。“如果你好奇阳光和月光的存在，你应该去做一名天文学家。如果你好奇为什么树是绿色的，人会生病，你应该去做一名生物学家。”

When he was joking that science was his first love, the seed of science in each student began to grow. Dr.Aaron Ciechanover’s unique way of communicating and teaching was like a finger, pressing the button of science in students’ mind.

当他开玩笑说科学是他的初恋的时候，科学的种子也开始在同学们的心中生长。Aaron Ciechanover博士独特的沟通与教学方式，就像一根手指，按下了同学们心中代表科学的那个按钮。

In the interview, he emphasizes that students should learn from advanced countries and bring their technology back to China, achieving the Chinese Dream step by step. As a proverb goes, “Go outside and see the colorfulness of the world”, we should absorb advantages from othersto make up for the disadvantages of China.

在提问环节，他强调同学们应该去学习先进国家的理念并把技术带回中国，一步步实现中国梦。就像那句话“世界那么大，我想去看看”，我们应该吸取别国的优点，并弥补自身的缺点。

He also remarks that there is no one correct way to elevate the standard of life. Only keeping thinking and creating can be the solution.

他提到提升生活水平没有单一正确的方法。只有不断去想和创造才是解决办法。　

Time flies, but his words and thoughts will always inspire and be with us.

时间飞逝，但他的话语和思想将永远鼓舞着我们，陪伴着我们。
